Industry Safety Steering Group

The Industry Safety Steering Group (ISSG) refers to a collaborative effort established to address systemic issues related to building safety and regulatory oversight in the UK construction industry. Following the devastating fire at Grenfell Tower in June 2017, there was widespread concern about the adequacy of building regulations, fire safety standards, and oversight mechanisms.

The Industry Safety Steering Group (ISSG) played a critical role in driving forward the implementation of Dame Judith Hackitt's recommendations for building safety reform in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy. By bringing together industry stakeholders and regulatory authorities, the ISSG helped to promote collaboration, accountability, and progress towards achieving safer and more resilient built environment standards in the UK.
